A Rochester -area fire department's plans to host two parties featuring exotic dancers went up in smoke after some people in the community raised concerns.
A viewer sent photos of a pair of tickets to the events -- one featuring female dancers on March 10, the other featuring male dancers on March 31 -- to WROC-TV in Rochester. Sea Breeze FD in Irondequoit planned fundraisers featuring exotic dancers. Hours after we learned this, told events cancelled. They use the event to maintain the equipment or purchase new equipment. Response from the community was mixed. Some people questioned why the department resorted to hiring strippers.
I'm not sure whose idea this was, but it seems a little extreme. Not everyone was concerned though, and some people were even a little disappointed to find out the event had been cancelled. On Twitter, several users also bemoaned the event's cancellation. That alone will probably top the scale in donations.
